The debut film by Chinese director Ning Ying, starring Shi Puyuan, Fang Zheng, Ma Xiaoqing, and others. Tells the story of a pair of friends who went to the karaoke hall as musicians but were involved in smuggling.

A Chinese serial feature film, released in 6 parts (8 episodes) between 1988 and 1989. The film adapts the major events and incidents of the novel of the same name, depicting the fate of Jia family.

The film tells of the attempts made by a Beijing van driver to obtain his wage arrears from travel agency boss even to the point of kidnapping the latter's Singaporean girlfriend (Jacklyn Wu).
